Young Carers

What’s the definition of a young carer?

A young carer is under 18 and provides unpaid help and support for someone with a long-term physical ability, mental health condition or problems with drugs and/or alcohol.
Sometimes the person they care for relies on them and wouldn’t be able to function without their help and support.
They care for them not only practically but emotionally as well.

Support and Guidance for carers

We can help?

If you are a young carer speak to an adult at school and we can help with getting the support you need.
As a school, we offer support and guidance to our young carers through a half termly group session and allows our carers to meet with others in a similar position.
We can also refer you to the Surrey Young Carers Team at Action for Carers or your parent/guardian can refer you. The Surrey Young Carers Team at the charity Action for Carers is there to support young people aged 5-17.  The offer help, advice and information, along with youth clubs, fun events and more.   For further information visit their website.
